The sugar maple is a deciduous tree that can reach a height of 25 to 35 meters, in rare cases up to 46 meters. The yellowish-green flower clusters appear in April or May and grow on umbels. The flowers produce a dry fruit, the samara, which contains two seeds and papery wings that help in its dispersal. The trunk, branches and leaves produce a sweet sap that is tapped, boiled and concentrated into maple syrup.


In the kitchen you can use maple syrup as a sweetener or in raw form.


When taken with antibiotics, maple sap enhances their effects. The combination of antibiotics and maple sap works better and faster than antibiotics alone.
