3 recipes:

Ribwort plantain syrup

Ingredients:

Ribwort plantain leaves or broad plantain leaves

Cane sugar

Glass with lid

fine sieve

Bottle with snap cap or cork

Preparation:

Cut the plantain into small pieces and put some in a glass. Then add a layer of cane sugar on top and press firmly. Now add another layer of plantain leaves and then a layer of cane sugar and press firmly again. This is repeated until everything is used up. Make sure that as little air as possible remains between them. The last layer on top should be cane sugar.

Now close the jar tightly and leave it in a dark place (e.g. basement, or buried in the ground outside) for 2 months.

After some time the sugar should have dissolved well. If this is not the case, let it stand for a certain time again. When the sugar has completely dissolved, it can be strained and bottled. Don’t forget to label it with your name and date.

Application:

The ribwort plantain syrup by the tablespoon, to be taken internally

Ribwort plantain syrup

Ingredients:

Ribwort plantain leaves

Honey

Earthenware pot or glass jar with a tight-fitting lid

Board

Rolling pin

fine sieve

Bottles with snap caps or cork

Preparation:

The crushed plantain leaves are layered alternately with honey in an earthenware pot or glass vessel. A whole lot of ribwort plantain leaves are placed on a board and rolled over several times with a rolling pin using gentle pressure. Now some of the leaves are put into the earthenware pot and then the honey, then again ribwort plantain leaves and honey. This continues until everything is used up. The final layer should be honey.

Now close the earthenware pot well and bury it completely in a well-irradiated favorite place (possibly under your favorite tree). Mark the spot and dig it up again after 2 to 3 months (the latest possible date for the approach is August).

Strain the juice obtained through a fine sieve and pour into bottles. Label with name and date and store in a cool, dark place.

Application:

Use one tablespoon at a time to take internally.

Ingredients:

Ribwort plantain leaves

Whole cane sugar

large mason jar

Filters

Pot

Kitchen thermometer

Bottles

Preparation:

Roughly chop the ribwort plantain, put it in the glass and sprinkle the herb with a thin layer of whole cane sugar. Then let it stand for 1 day. The sugar should have been dissolved by the plant sap. Now add another layer of plantain on top, sprinkle again with sugar and let stand. Repeat this process until the glass is full. After the last layer of sugar, close the glass lid and leave it in a place with constant heat (kitchen). Fermentation is completely complete after 6 to 8 weeks.

After the time has passed, filter out the juice and squeeze the herbs well. Then heat the juice in a pot to 68 degrees Celsius and, while still hot, fill it into sterile bottles and close them.

Application:

For internal use, take teaspoonfuls.
