Fire tongs punch with cardamom

For approx. 15 glasses

Ingredients:

6 tablespoons of black tea

1.5 liters of water

3 oranges

2 grapefruits

5 cloves

1 small stick of cinnamon

7 cardamom seeds

1 small sugar loaf (250 grams)

1 bottle of rum (54 vol.%)

Preparation:

Pour boiling water over the tea, let it steep for 5 minutes and then strain through a sieve.

Squeeze 2 oranges and 1 grapefruit. Peel the remaining fruit and cut into thin slices.

Pour the tea with fruit juice, fruit slices and spices into a fireproof vessel and place on a burning rechaud. Place the sugar loaf on fire tongs over the vessel, soak it in rum and light it. Keep adding rum with a ladle. The punch is ready when the sugar loaf has burned down.
