If you want to save on packaging and bake often, it's worth making your own vanilla sugar. Above all, it is very simple.
Take the vanilla pod and place it in a screw-top jar. Then add the sugar and let it stand for 1 week. You can tell by the smell and taste whether the dosage is now sufficient. The longer the vanilla pod remains in the glass, the stronger the vanilla sugar becomes. When it's ready, simply put the vanilla pod in another glass, add more sugar and so on until the vanilla pod loses its smell.
