In Germany, the medicinal plant of the year has been selected every year since 1990. The Association of Medicinal Herb Friends Germany e.V. did it first, but unfortunately they dissolved in 2004. Since 2003, the plant has been chosen by the association for the promotion of natural healing according to Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim, called Paracelsus e.V. (NHV Theophrastus).
