Ingredients:
1 liter of water*
3 to 4 teaspoons dried herb
1 lemon slice
1 small piece of fresh ginger
1 teaspoon honey
Pots
fine sieve or coffee filter
Teapot
Preparation:
*You should use 1 liter of lime-free spring water or clockwise, lime-free tap water to boil for a few minutes. If you don't have lime-free water available, you can also use distilled water. The Chinese believe that this makes the plant's ingredients work better.
Let the water boil for a few minutes and then remove it from the heat and wait a while. The water should cool down by around 15 degrees Celsius. Then put the dried herb in another pot, along with a slice of lemon and a small piece of ginger. Now pour in the water and let it steep for no longer than 7 minutes at the most. Then strain the tea through a fine sieve or coffee filter and pour into a teapot.
The tea ceremony with Jiaogulan can be enjoyed unsweetened or with 1 teaspoon of honey. A splash of lemon juice tastes delicious. If you prefer milk with your tea, simply leave out the lemon slices.
