Hildegard von Bingen: Sanicle has great purity in it and its juice is pleasant and healing for the sick stomach and the sick intestines. In summer, pull it out of the ground when it is green and boil it with water. Strain the water through a cloth and add some honey and licorice and boil it and drink it often after meals. And dry the herb in the sun and pulverize it. And in winter add powder to honey and licorice and boil some in wine and drink this for stomach ache. But whoever is wounded by an iron, let him squeeze out the juice and drink it with water, for this cleanses the wounds internally.
