☕ Tea: 5 to 6 dried leaves or 1 tablespoon of crushed leaves are poured with 1 cup of boiling water and left to steep for 20 minutes. Then strain the leaves and drink as needed.


The Salal is an evergreen shrub that can grow between 60 cm and 3 meters high. It has dark green, leathery leaves that are thick, shiny and waxy on the top. The plant produces white or pink clusters of small flowers that look like urn-shaped bells. The flowers are slightly sticky and hairy. They develop red, purple or dark blue berries that are covered with tiny hairs.


🛑 The leaves are considered harmless, but should not be consumed in excess.


In the kitchen, the berries can be eaten raw or cooked. They taste quite sour with a mild taste.


The leaves of this species are a widely used binding green in floristry under the name Salal.
