Bitter substances, tannins, essential oil (thujone), resin, gum, starch, protein, saponin, acids, glycosides


Other:

☕ Tea: 2 teaspoons are poured with 1/4 liter of boiling water. Let it steep for at least 15 minutes. Drink 1 cup if necessary. This is also the mixture for gargling solutions.


In the kitchen, sage is used as a seasoning for pork, lamb, veal, tomato sauce, marinades, soups, vegetables and fish. Sage leaves baked into omelette dough make a delicious main course.


Real sage grows to around 60 cm high and wide. It blooms in late spring or summer with lavender purple, pink or white flowers. The leaves are elongated, about 6.5 cm long and 2.5 cm wide. They are gray-green in color and wrinkled on the upper side, while the underside is white and covered with short, soft hairs.


🛑 Sage can significantly reduce milk production in nursing mothers. Therefore, avoid taking it while breastfeeding.
