Rue is rarely found growing wild in the Mediterranean region. It grows in herb gardens, monastery gardens and in parks.


Ingredients:

Tannins, furanocoumarins, alkaloids, rutin, glycoside, resin, bitter substances, malic acid, gum


Miscellaneous:

☕ Tea: 1 teaspoon is poured with 1/4 liter of boiling water and steeped for 5 minutes. According to empirical medicine, 2 cups daily help with the indications listed above.


The rue grows into a pretty low hedge that can serve as a border for a herb bed.


In the Christian Middle Ages it was agreed that the consecrated rue was the most reliable means of summoning and expelling the devil.


Rue is one of the nine herbs in the “nine herb tuft”. An oracle wreath is made from nine herbs, which must also contain the rue.


🛑 Pregnant women should avoid rue as it can cause miscarriages. Sensitive people get blisters on their skin just when picking. Rue tea can make the skin more sensitive to light when exposed to sunlight and the plant should be used in moderation and as a treatment.

Rue has a negative effect on men's sexual drive, but for women it is exactly the opposite - it has a stimulating effect.


Before going to bed, you can take a pinch of rue powder in a little wine to help prevent bedwetting. However, this is only suitable for children aged 12 and over.


In the kitchen, you can add 3 to 4 rue leaves in your daily food or in soups or vegetable dishes. Fresh and dried rue can be used as an economical spice. It is used to season cooked fish, fatty mutton, meat and cheese dishes, spinach, mushrooms, cabbage dishes and grappa.


Hildegard von Bingen: It is good for dry bitterness that grows in people who lack the right juices. It suppresses the wrong heat of the blood and reduces the wrong warmth of melancholy and moderates the wrong cold of melancholy.
