The local orchid was a symbol of fertility and, above all, the power of love.
The orchid, which is precious to us and is almost extinct, is apparently still plentiful in Turkey. The powdered orchid bulbs are bought in huge quantities by the confectioners. 1 kg of salep powder costs around 100 euros in Turkey and is used in ice cream, chocolate and pudding production. The powdered root tuber powder gives the ice cream consistency in warm climates so that it does not melt.
Building syrup for weak children:
100 g of powdered sugar is mixed with 50 g of grated tuber in a larger pot, mixed with 1/2 liter of water and left to stand. Then after about 1 to 2 hours, add 1 liter of boiling water and stir vigorously. Then heat the whole thing again to the boiling point and let it stand at a low temperature for about 1/4 hour. Finally, pour everything into jars with a wide opening and close tightly. Don't forget to label it with your name and date.
Give the child 1 teaspoon every hour.
