Ingredients:
1 medium onion
100g water
150g sugar
Pot
kitchen grater
fine sieve
1 bottle for the syrup or for the sweets a baking tray with baking paper
Preparation:
Peel the onion and add the water to a pot. Then use the kitchen grater to grate the onion into the water. Now add the sugar, bring to the boil and stir well.
Don't cook for too long to make the syrup. If you want the sweets, the mass should be very thick.
For the syrup: Remove the mixture from the heat, strain through a fine sieve and pour into a bottle. Don't forget to label it with your name and date.
For the sweets: Remove the thick mixture from the heat and use two teaspoons to form the sweets and place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper to cool. (Be careful of risk of burns, the mixture is very, very hot) If you have a candy or praline mold, you can also pour the syrup into it and let it cool.
Application:
Onion syrup or onion candies: The syrup is used by the tablespoon and the candies are sucked in the mouth.
