Mallow syrup

Ingredients:

30 g mallow flowers and mallow leaves

1/2 liter of water

150 g rock candy


Pot

fine sieve

Brown glass bottles


Preparation:

The mallow flowers and leaves are scalded with boiling water and left to steep for 24 hours. After this time, the rock candy is dissolved in the liquid and left to simmer on a low heat for about 20 minutes. The mallow flowers and leaves can then be strained through a fine sieve and poured into brown glass bottles. Allow to cool thoroughly and then store in a cool place.

🛑 Mallow syrup should not be taken if the respiratory tract is mucous, as mallow suppresses the coughing stimulus required to cough up the mucus.

In general, mallow is considered to be well tolerated. Side effects are not known. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult their doctor or midwife before taking mallow. Since mallow could affect blood sugar levels, people with diabetes should also discuss taking mallow with their doctor. Anyone taking medication should take mallow 3 hours apart, as the ingredients in mallow can delay the effects of medication.
