Homemade mustard

Mustard, homemade


50 g fresh mustard seeds

5 to 6 tablespoons of vinegar

2 teaspoons salt

3 to 4 tablespoons brown sugar


1 pinch of cayenne pepper

10 g turmeric

1 tablespoon olive oil


Mixer or hand blender


The fresh mustard seeds are placed in a pot and briefly boiled with the vinegar. The pot is then removed from the heat and the mustard seeds are pureed with a hand blender or blender. Now add the salt, brown sugar, some pepper, cayenne pepper and turmeric. Mix everything well. When the mixture has become cold, the olive oil is added drop by drop and stirred in.

If you want, you can add herbs such as tarragon, chervil, basil, paprika, an onion or garlic, Tabasco or green peppercorns as desired. You can do whatever you want.
