Frankincense trees grow in India, East Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.

Ingredients:

Essential oil with camphene, limonene, cineole, pinene and phellandrene, gum, water, boswellic acid

Other:

The resin from the Arabian region and East Africa is called olibanum. The resin used internationally in medicine is called Salai Guggal and comes from the Indian frankincense tree.

The resin can be harvested by scratching thicker branches and the trunk. The low-quality resin is the first step. The higher quality resin only comes from the second harvest, which is carried out after approx. 3 weeks. The tree is pruned and harvested again and again in the following months. In the following years you have to let it grow in peace, otherwise it can die. An frankincense tree can yield up to 10 kg of resin.

We are more familiar with frankincense from the three kings on January 6th, where the children go around in costumes and collect donations for the church and at the same time smoke the house/apartment with frankincense to bless it and protect it from evil spirits. Not only is smoking and aroma therapy with frankincense known in India, Africa and Arabia, but it is also part of the healing system there and is already firmly anchored. What many people don't know is that the resin can be bought in tablet form, as an essential oil, as capsules and in drop form.
