The seeds were mixed with rose oil and rubbed all over the body to beautify the skin. In order to become beautiful, but above all womanly, young girls lay down on the first night of May where fenugreek grows. The young man, in turn, wears a branch in his right sleeve, which frees him from recruitment. (Excerpt from the book The Herbs in My Garden)
Hildegard von Bingen: Fenugreek is more cold than warm. A man who is disgusted by food and often sweats, let him warm the seed and the herb in wine and drink it warm while fasting, and he will be better. For four-day fever, boil it in water, and when the water has been squeezed out, wrap the herb around the lower legs and tie a cloth over it.
