Evening primrose syrup

Evening primrose syrup

2 handfuls of evening primrose flowers

1/4 liter of water

1/4 kg brown sugar

1/4 liter of water

2 pots

coffee filter

Collect the open flowers in the afternoon and knock off the small black beetles that sometimes attack the evening primrose or dip the flowers briefly in water - then they fall off.

The evening primrose flowers are placed in a pot and poured with 1/4 liter of cold water. Bring the whole thing to the boil, but do not boil, and then let it steep for 1/4 hour.

While the other is cooling or steeping, the water and brown sugar can be boiled in another pot to make a syrup.

After the evening primrose flower tea has steeped, the flowers are strained through a coffee filter and the liquid is mixed with the syrup. This must be done in such a way that the brewing time and the straining and boiling of the syrup are completed almost at the same time. After both liquids have been mixed well together, it can be poured into small bottles and labeled with name and date.

If the work is done properly, it will last a long time in the fridge.

Take several teaspoons daily.
