☕ Tea: Pour 1/4 liter of boiling water over 2 teaspoons of dried roots, let steep for 15 minutes and strain, let cool and drink lukewarm.

🛀🏼 1/4 kg of roots are added to 5 liters of water overnight and briefly boiled the next day. The decoction is added to the bath water.

The ancient medicinal plant is already mentioned in ancient Persian writings and in the Veda. It was already used as a magical ointment before the birth of Christ.

Before ginger became known as a spice, calamus was used as a seasoning instead.

The strong essential oil contains the active ingredient asarone, which is very high in some Asian calamus species and has been shown to cause cancer in animal experiments. The local calamus also contains asarone, but in a considerably lower amount.

Distillation of the rhizomes produces a fragrant oil that is used in perfumery and for perfuming soaps. The essential calamus oil is available in the pharmacy and, when applied, has a circulation-promoting and anti-inflammatory effect.Frequent chewing of the fresh or dried root is recommended for stomach and colon cancer.

🛑 Small amounts always improve your mood. With larger quantities (25 cm), changes in perception and hallucinations have been reported. The tea infusion is not beneficial for children and pregnant women should also avoid it.
