Ingredients:
For the Braunelle oil:
2 handfuls of fresh braunelle herb
1/2 liter olive oil
Glass
Cloth
fine sieve or filter
For the ointment:
60 g Braunelle oil
20 g lanolin anhydride (=anhydrous wool fat)
6 g cocoa butter
6g beeswax
fireproof glass
Pot
Ointment jar
Preparation:
To make the oil, the braunelle herb and its flowers are placed in a glass and poured with olive oil. Then cover with a cloth (do not close tightly) and leave in a warm place for 6 weeks. After 6 weeks, the Braunelle herb can be strained through a fine sieve or filter.
If you need the oil more quickly, you can heat the herb-oil mixture in a water bath. The water should simmer gently for about 2 hours and is then strained.
To make the ointment, the braunelle oil, lanolin, cocoa butter and beeswax are placed in a fireproof glass and heated in a water bath (pot with water and the fireproof glass is placed in there). Until all ingredients have melted and a homogeneous mass has been formed. Then remove the pot from the fire and stir until cold. (One variant is to make the ointment base with olive oil; when stirring cold, add 20 drops of Braunelle tincture). Pour into ointment jars and stir occasionally until everything is cold. Don't forget to label it with your name and date of manufacture.
Application:
Braunelle ointment can be used for cold sores, itchy rashes, eczema and so on.
