Arnica is considered protection against lightning, witches, sorcerers and slander. When a thunderstorm comes, the dried arnica is smoked and the magic spell: "Pin arnica, light arnica, that the weather can change." used. To protect against lightning strikes and hail, the plant is placed under the roof or hung in the living room and you should say a prayer.

Arnica has the highest healing power on St. John's Day.

Arnica is a perennial plant and grows between 30 and 50 cm high. One or more stems grow upright from its rhizome. The stems are hairy and bear two to four pairs of heart-shaped to arrow-shaped leaves. The leaves are often formed on individual short shoots, they are coarsely toothed and wither when the plant flowers. The leaves on the upper part of the plant are hairy like the stem. The lower leaves have rounded tips. The flowers are small and yellow, forming 1 to 5 daisy-like flower heads per plant. Each flower head has a golden yellow disc with 10 to 15 yellow tongues. They are pointed and about 2.5 cm long. The entire flower head is approximately 6.25 cm in diameter. The seeds form in a small, hairy achene about 1/2 inch long. The flowers appear from May to August.

🛑 Can cause death if overdosed! If you have heart and circulatory disorders, arnica should be used under the supervision of a doctor. Allergy sufferers, fair-skinned and red-blond people should carefully try out whether they can tolerate arnica. Never use undiluted. Arnica should only be used externally and homeopathically. Arnica ointment should be avoided on open wounds as it can cause inflammation and irritation.

Due to the risk of poisoning, the tincture may only be taken internally in small quantities and diluted 1:3. The doctor decides what is not yet working and what is already too much.

Arnica is likely to be a cell communicator for calcium and is therefore an introductory plant in homeopathy and for alternative practitioners.

Leaves and roots can be mixed into herbal tobaccos.

Hildegard von Bingen: Arnica is very warm and has a poisonous warmth within it. It is a distributing agent for bruises and clotted blood. If a person touches another's skin with green arnica, he will burn with love for him.
