Traditionally, a witch's ladder / knot magic is a cord or rope with 3, 9, 13, or 40 knots. Some weave in pendants, feathers or talismans to achieve a specific magical effect and make the spell work.
There are many uses. Whatever one's intention, a magical spell can be made into a witch's ladder. Witches can cast a spell over people by tying knots. You then hide the rope and the only way to undo it is to find the string and undo the knots or eliminate the rope.

With knot number 2, the magic comes true.

With node number 9, whatever is done is mine.
When the final knot is tied, direct all your energy into that of the rope and all of its knots. Now the energy is stored in the string and its knots. Tie the two ends together and use it as a necklace, hang it in your car, or hang it at the end of your bed.
